He is a graduate of St. Petersburg State University, and has a solid background as a research scientist in the fields of analytical chemistry and materials science. Like many of his generation he changed his occupation because of the dramatic shake-up of the Soviet economy and started a new career in management in 1995.

For more than 10 years he held top positions in various IT and Telecom businesses like MegaFon, the biggest Russian mobile operator. In 2005 he graduated with merit from the Stockholm School of Economics and started his own consulting business, focusing on strategy and innovation. He is presently the regional representative of the world leading innovation management consulting company Intellectual Capital Services, Ltd. and an associate consultant at DalinYebo.

As a man of both worlds, Sergey is an ideal intermediary between scientists and venture capitalists, helping them find the common language that links them.
